End of Watch: July 18, 1935
On July 18, 1935, Guard Foreman William C. Turner was supervising three prisoners at Oklahoma State Penitentiary on the prison farm, approximately one mile from the main building. Turner was suddenly struck by lightning, immediately killing him and the horse he was riding. The three prisoners were also injured during the lightning strike.
Guard Turner had served with the agency for four years. He was survived by his wife and three children.
